Case study on PFAS capture in the pipeline, installation at Hammarby Sjöstadsverk

The experiments performed previously aimed to investigate whether PFAS can be concentrated or degraded with CDI-technology. Now we scale up to pilot testing at Sjöstadsverket – a joint KTH/IVL facility in Stockholm.

We will first run trials with more frequent sampling and then let the pilot go on automatic and take smaller samples to get longer operating time. The difference between the lab experiments and the pilot experiments is that the capacity is about 200 times higher and that we use tap water + PFAS and that more water is purified with the same electrode so that we will be able to analyze how stable the purification is. The pilot plant is now being installed.
